Driving Integrated Care Through Expert Advisory and Strategic Partnerships
Arthur Health, a Canadian healthcare solutions company, partnered with The Ottawa Hospital to co-manage the Ontario Workers Network (OWN)—a clinically integrated network serving injured workers across Ontario. This collaboration exemplifies how expert advisory and digital innovation can transform care delivery, ensuring timely, evidence-based services closer to home.
The Challenge
Prior to OWN, injured workers faced fragmented care pathways, long wait times, and inconsistent quality standards. The lack of integration between hospitals, rehabilitation providers, and payers created inefficiencies and poor patient experiences.
What We Did
Arthur Health designed and implemented a secure, cloud-based platform—CareNexus—to enable interdisciplinary collaboration across 22 hospitals and 70+ rehabilitation sites. Through expert advisory services, Arthur Health established governance structures, privacy protocols, and performance dashboards. The network adopted validated Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) and Experience Measures (PREMs) to monitor quality and patient satisfaction.
Key actions included:
- Building a clinically integrated network in six months.
- Deploying CareNexus for real-time care coordination and KPI tracking.
- Providing advisory support for governance, compliance, and digital transformation.
The Outcome
Since its launch in 2018, OWN has delivered over 750,000 services to 37,000 injured workers, reducing travel burdens and improving return-to-work outcomes. The model has become Ontario’s largest integrated delivery network for workplace injury care, earning contract renewals and expanding partnerships.
"Our partnership with The Ottawa Hospital and OWN demonstrates the power of collaboration and technology in achieving care closer to home. By integrating services and leveraging digital platforms, we’ve set a new standard for value-based healthcare delivery in Ontario."
