From Operating Rooms to Systemic Reform
Dr. Mahomed’s career began in the operating rooms of Toronto Western Hospital, where he honed his skills as an orthopedic surgeon. But his passion for improving healthcare delivery led him to pursue advanced degrees in public health and health policy at Harvard. This academic foundation laid the groundwork for a career focused not only on individual patient outcomes but on systemic transformation.
His leadership in developing the Altum Health program at University Health Network and co-founding the Arthritis Innovation Corporation demonstrated his commitment to value-based care and innovation in pain management. These experiences culminated in the founding of Arthur Health in 2017, alongside Dr. Christian Veillette and Dr. Raj Rampersaud.

One of Arthur Health’s most impactful initiatives has been the development of the Ontario Workers Network (OWN), a clinically integrated network created in collaboration with The Ottawa Hospital. This network spans 20 hospitals and numerous rehabilitation providers, offering tailored services for injured workers across Ontario.
Through OWN and other strategic partnerships, Arthur Health is redefining how healthcare systems collaborate. By leveraging data, technology, and clinical expertise, we are breaking down silos and building bridges between providers, payers, and patients.
