Dr. Nizar Mahomed— CEO & Co-Founder

MD, ScD, FRCSC

Dr. Nizar Mahomed is the Chief Executive Officer of Arthur Health and Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Toronto. He has a Masters in Public Health and a Doctor of Science in Health Policy and Management, from the Harvard School of Public Health. A clinician–innovator with deep expertise in musculoskeletal care and health‑system design, he leads Arthur Health’s mission to deliver the right care, at the right time, by the right provider—always.

As CEO and founder, Dr. Mahomed brings together an interdisciplinary team of clinical leaders, product engineers, data scientists, and operational experts to turn complex care pathways into coordinated, patient‑centred experiences. Under his leadership, Arthur Health’s CareNexus Platform powers large, integrated delivery networks that connect referral, triage, clinical services, rehabilitation, and return‑to‑work—enabling transparent information sharing, evidence‑informed decision‑making, and accountable outcomes across providers and payers.

Dr. Mahomed’s career spans frontline surgical care, health policy, and digital transformation. That breadth allows him to bridge the realities of clinic, hospital, and insurer environments with modern technology and analytics—so organizations don’t just digitize existing processes; they redesign how care works. His approach emphasizes measurable results, secure and interoperable data, and the practical adoption of innovation inside busy clinical settings. Working closely with WSIB, he helped with their health care transformation that resulted in dramatic reductions in long term disability with annualized savings of over $ 1 billion.

Arthur Health’s networks, built on CareNexus, now support some of the largest coordinated MSK programs in Canada—demonstrating industry‑leading patient satisfaction and return‑to‑work outcomes while simplifying the experience for patients, providers, and administrators alike. Dr. Mahomed remains actively engaged with partners across health systems to expand these benefits into new regions and lines of service.
