We’re proud to share that Arthur Health has been featured in a Microsoft Customer Story highlighting our innovative approach to transforming healthcare in Ontario.
Breaking Down Silos in Care Delivery
Healthcare for chronic conditions like low-back pain often involves multiple providers, leading to fragmented, delayed, and costly care. At Arthur Health, we set out to change that. Founded by three orthopedic surgeons in 2017, our mission has been clear: deliver coordinated, patient-centered care through a clinically integrated network supported by digital health technology.
The Challenge
In Ontario, patients can wait over a year for specialist appointments—only to discover the specialist may not have the right information or expertise for their condition. This inefficiency impacts patient outcomes and strains the healthcare system.
“At Arthur Health, our vision has always been to make healthcare more connected, efficient, and patient-focused. Being featured by Microsoft validates the power of collaboration between clinical expertise and technology innovation. Together, we’re proving that digital transformation can truly improve lives.”
- Dr. Christian Veillette, Chief Technical Officer, Arthur Health
Our Solution
Partnering with Microsoft and Quisitive, we built a robust digital platform leveraging Microsoft Power Platform, Dynamics 365, and MazikCare. In just nine months, we launched a care coordination system that:
- Standardizes complex-care assessments
- Enables seamless provider communication across Ontario
- Introduces an e-referral service in record time (3 months)
This platform empowers providers to collaborate effectively and ensures patients receive the right care closer to home.
Impact at Scale
Our rapid-access clinic model for low-back pain reduced wait times by up to 80%, cutting delays from 6–12 months to just 2–4 weeks. Patients gained timely access to physiotherapists or chiropractors supported by regional specialists, while unnecessary MRIs and emergency visits dropped significantly.
Today, over 8,000 primary care providers use our clinically integrated network to refer patients across Ontario. Satisfaction rates for both patients and providers remain above 90%, proving that coordinated care works.
“Our goal at Arthur Health has always been to simplify the patient journey and empower providers with the tools they need to deliver timely, coordinated care. Being recognized by Microsoft reinforces our commitment to leveraging technology for better health outcomes across Ontario and beyond.”
- Nizar Mahomed, Chief Executive Officer, Arthur Health
Looking Ahead
We’re excited to expand this model beyond specialty care and integrate predictive health management powered by Microsoft’s evolving AI capabilities. As Dr. Christian Veillette, our CTO, says:
“We needed a solution that was extensible, agile, and secure for handling patient information—that’s why we chose Microsoft.”
Driving the Future of Healthcare
Arthur Health’s journey demonstrates what’s possible when technology and clinical expertise come together. By leveraging Microsoft’s cloud solutions, we’re building a smarter, more efficient healthcare system—one that puts patients first.
